Arley Hall wedding video – The making of an advert

On the set of a soap – wedding video at Arley Hall

It was a great pleasure when i was asked if i would like to film a behind the scenes clip for Ian Lloyd florists at Arley Hall.  Ian was having some photos done for his new 2012 advertising campaign and i was going to film the process.  As with everything Ian does it was set to be a spectacular session and i was looking forward to the day.

So, i have filmed at Arley Hall before and am familiar with the surroundings but this day seemed a little different somehow, i didn’t yet know how but do read on.

I was stopped at the entrance to the driveway by a security guard who asked what i was doing and was i part of the set.  I said that i was here to film as i was a videographer.  “Oh right !” he said as he looked in the back of my car to see a small Canon DSLR camera on a tripod.  “They are in the chapel but you’ll have to park here and walk up.”  “No problem”, i replied and parked my car where i had been instructed.

I got my camera out of the back of my car and made my way to the chapel where i was passed a number of camper vans and catering vehicles, “that’s strange” i thought, i wonder what’s going on here. Thinking no more of it until i arrived at the Chapel to see 3 large TV broadcast lorries and a whole bunch of people pulling large cables into the chapel.

Still with my small camera slung over my shoulder i enterede the cahpel to see it all decorated with lovely flowers ready for a wedding.  There was one gentleman sitting down at the back and i asked him whether i was in the right place for Ian Lloyd’s advert shoot.  No he said we are filming Coronation Street.

Suddenly everything fell into place, now i know why i got such a strange look from the security man when i told him i was the cameraman.  That explains the camper vans and everything else.  Pity i was booked for the ad shoot as i could have helped them out.

I assumed that i have been given incorrect information and made my way to the hall where i was greeted by Martin Hambleton who was taking the photos.  “This must be the right place then.” i proclaimed  “What do you mean?” he replied. “Nothing, it’s a long story”, i answered.  “Never mind.”

So on with the shoot and we weren’t disappointed, the flowers looked stunning and the dresses provided by Lace Bridal were amazing.  The resulting video can be seen here along with an article that was featured in a local newspaper.
